Penny's Concrete Inc. is a privately owned fourth-generation corporation which has been in the construction materials business since 1927. Customer service and quality products are the focus of our organization.

From ready mix concrete to sand dredging and transportation, we can handle your needs. We have a ready mix fleet of over 150 trucks and are centrally dispatched. 

 

 

 

Current Operations

Bill and Marlene Penny of Lawrence, Kansas owners of Penny's Concrete, Inc. with their son Jon Penny, operate 21 concrete plants from 20 permanent locations in Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri along with two mobile plants. They also operate six sand dredging locations in Eastern Kansas and a rock quarry in Franklin County, Kansas.

 

 

Four Generations of Serving Customers

The Penny family operates from an interesting history in the ready mix concrete industry. Bill Penny's grandparents Myrl and Addie Penny first started in the concrete industry in the mid 1920's becoming one of the first one hundred ready mix concrete operators in the United States. Even more remarkable, it is believed that of the original first one hundred operators, less than five still belong to the same ownership group.

At Penny's, the lineage of ownership has been focused on passing down a strong commitment to our customers and employees, originally from Myrl and Addie Penny, then to Jun and Mary Lou Penny, then Bill and Marlene Penny, and now Jon Penny.
